Vehicle State Inspections

New Inspection Rules:

Your vehicle will no longer be issued an inspection sticker. Your registration sticker will serve as combined proof of inspection and registration.
If your inspection and registration stickers both expire in the same month your vehicle will need to pass inspection prior to registration renewal.

Renew your annual registration online, by mail, or in-person at your county tax office. At the time of registration, your inspection status will be verified electronically. A current, passing inspection is required for registration renewal.
You now have a convenient 90-day window to complete both your inspection and registration. Remember, your registration is valid through the last day of the registration expiration month.

What you need to bring:

-A valid insurance card reflecting policy expiration date
-Hard copy or on cell phone, both are acceptable proof
-Proof of insurance can be faxed ahead of time to: 972-956-0423
-Once your inspection passes, you will have everything you need to register your vehicle in Texas.

How Much Will it Cost?

One-Year Safety: $7.00
Safety (vehicles 25 years or older): $7.00
Trailer / Motorcycle: $7.00
Emission (ASM) for vehicles model-year 1995 and older: $31.50
Emission (OBD) for vehicles model-year 1996 and newer: $25.50
Counties include: Tarrant, Dallas, Denton, Collin. Call your local DMV for pricing for other counties
